United Way in Montgomery County’s VITA Program offers free income tax assistance to eligible community members with the help of individuals who are certified with the IRS to prepare taxes as volunteers. Appointments are required and can be scheduled using the self-scheduling tool below or by calling 765-362-5484. Appointments will take place at the United Way in Montgomery County office at 221 E. Main Street on the 2nd floor of the First Financial Bank. If you have questions email ghaile@uwmontgomery.org or call 765-362-5484.
Eligibility Considerations: Individuals making $78,000 or less are likely eligible for VITA services. You are out of scope for our program if you own or manage a rental property, have farm income, exchange virtual currency (e.g. bitcoin), are selling a home under contract, or operated at a loss as a self-employed contractor/business owner.

Monday, 1-4pm
Tuesday, 9am-2pm
Wednesday, 9am-12pm (ONLY Covington Office, 418 Washington St., Covington)
Thursday, 9am-2pm
Friday, 9am-12pm

If you would prefer a full-service appointment, you can schedule online, or call us at 765-362-5484. This line can get very busy, so we might not always be able to answer, but if you leave us a message, we will get back to you as soon as we can!
Crawfordsville Location
• Plan to arrive about 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to complete intake paperwork.
• A team member will assist/review your intake paperwork to help clear up any questions before seating you with a volunteer tax preparer.
Covington Location
• Appts available Wednesday only. 2 visits will be necessary. The first visit is to complete intake paper work. The second visit will be to review and sign tax documents.
You can also download or pick up an intake packet (Covington CAP Office, 1325 2nd St, Covington, IN) to complete in the comfort of your home.
